Glossary

liner: The protective foam lining found on the inside of a helmet.
pads: Protective gear generally worn on the knees, elbows, and wrists to prevent injury during a fall.
CPSC: Acronym for Consumer Product Safety Commission. This U.S. Commission develops uniform safety standards for consumer products and helps minimize conflicting state and local regulations. CPSC has established a helmet standard for Skateboarding and bicycling requirements. A helmet with the CPSC approval has meet their safety standards.
CE: European Community Certification - the CE approval has meet their safety standards
SXP: Pro-tec's patented "Surface Activated Expanded Polypropylene" liner. SXP liners have a rebound memory designed to handle multiple impacts. SXP liners meet all CE and CPSC requirements.
EPS: Expanded Polystyrene - liners made with EPS foam are lightweight and the standard for the Action Sports industry. Though EPS are not designed for multiple impacts, they are CE and CPSCS rated and certified.
EVA: Ethylene vinyl acetate Foam that has dual density and is waterproof. EVA is lightweight and used in the Pro-tec Wake helmets and as a soft grip tape on some longboards.
